Witch Post
Derived from 17th-century English murals designed to ward off witches, the name Witch Post is as much a tribute to the herbalists of yesteryear as it is to the intoxicatingly distorted indie rock of the Scottish-American duo. Dylan Fraser and Alaska Reid bring the sounds of two very different musical roots together on equal footing in their songs. The result is rousing indie rock with lustful distortions and expressive vocals that operate at a never-before-seen intersection of Oasis and My Bloody Valentine. But comparisons are bound to be flawed because Witch Post have proven this year with their debut EP, ‘Beast’ (2025), that they are in the process of creating a distinctive style of highly emotional indie music with an explicit penchant for the mystical. Nevertheless, they remain grounded, close to their craft, immersed in their instruments. These are truly the best conditions for an unforgettable gig here in Hamburg.
