Defné Çetin | Sounds I Hear

Defné Çetin listens to songs on repeat – and illustrates them. Her art is music turned into images. Sometimes, the focus is on the atmosphere a song conveys; sometimes, it’s on the lyrics – and sometimes, it’s a combination of both. The artist chooses songs that she particularly likes, hoping that the vision she has when listening to them matches the artists’ view of their own work. Exclusively for the Reeperbahn Festival, Defné Çetin has illustrated three songs from this year’s line-up: ‘Dog Dribble’ by Getdown Services, ‘Woman Driver’ by The Pill, and Big Special’s ‘Shop Music’.
