Flatstock
The Poster Institute in cooperation with Reeperbahn Festival and VISIONS presents:
Congratulations – we’re celebrating 20 years of Flatstock at Reeperbahn Festival! Alongside the usual carefully curated line-up of posters, Flatstock is presenting an exhibition featuring photographs, old posters, and anecdotes from our shared and – above all – eventful history. After all, Flatstock began in 2006 at the first Reeperbahn Festival with a single tent at Spielbudenplatz, weathered the rainy second iteration with just eight artists, and has since become an indispensable part of the festival – from 2021 onwards in the Festival Village at Heiligengeistfeld.
Flatstock itself was launched in 2002 with an exhibition in a warehouse in San Francisco – organised entirely by the poster artists themselves in true DIY style – and has developed over the years into a successful series of poster exhibitions in Austin, Seattle, Mexico City, and London. Originally, Flatstock celebrated the concert poster; since 2024, the team have also been focusing on film, politics, comedy, theatre, tourism, and the visual arts. Handcrafted, limited edition, diverse, international.
