Imagine Togetherness: Wie wir die Zukunft der Livemusik sichern
Ein solidarisches Modell zugunsten von Clubs, Künstler*innen und Veranstaltenden
On the one hand, superstars, stadium shows and sky-high concert ticket prices. On the other hand, concert cancellations, the demise of clubs and skyrocketing ancillary costs – the business model underpinning the concert industry is under enormous pressure.
So what can be done? Should we follow the proposal for an internet tax and rely on state regulation through redistribution via a ticket tax, as in France? Could imposing a levy on concert tickets solve the problem of inequality? Or should we dare to try a new idea, based loosely on the motto “Imagine Togetherness”: the Live Music Fund Germany. An initiative from the industry, for the industry.
A voluntary fund, inspired by the British Music Venue Trust, which supports small venues and festivals, newcomers and independent promoters – co-financed in solidarity by those who benefit from the boom.
A roundtable discussion with participants from politics, business, organisers and artists. The debate will focus on how such a fund could work, what hurdles need to be overcome – and why a “Circle of Live” is needed right now.
