Live at Reeperbahn Festival: “Notaufnahme” – the podcast by Médecins Sans Frontières

From search and rescue operations at sea, malnutrition and natural disasters to the complex realities of humanitarian work, the “Notaufnahme” podcast by Médecins Sans Frontières explores the challenges of providing aid around the world: How do you save lives when violence escalates? How can a refugee camp be supplied when an entire region is under water? And how can psychological support reach people who have experienced trauma? Médecins Sans Frontières seeks answers to these and many other questions.

This episode is about the situation of refugees in Libya, violence and sexual violence, vulnerability and psychological support in humanitarian work. Our guest is psychotherapist Regina Rückel, who worked for Médecins Sans Frontières in Libya in 2025. The conversation is complemented by moving eyewitness accounts from the “Humans in Transit” project, performed by actress Banafshe Hourmazdi. The accompanying “Humans in Transit” exhibition will be on display at the Arts Playground this year.

Content note: This Live Podcast explores experiences relating to exile and displacement. Some of the content may be emotionally distressing. Please look after your personal mental wellbeing.
