O.R.C.A - The Economic and Social Impact of Independent Labels
RememberORCA (Organization for Recorded Culture and Arts) is a think tank comprising international, independent music labels dedicated to enhancing the economic, social, and cultural value of music. Its members include Partisan, Beggars Group, Domino, City Slang, Secretly and Ninja Tune. Join ORCA members for a discussion to explore one of the main issues the thinktank is exploring - how to measure and define the economic and social impact of Independent Labels.
ORCA is preparing its second piece of research, to be released later in 2025 that explores these issues, but at Reeperbahn, one of the most important events in the indie calendar, we want to explore and discuss how to measure impact, what the role is of independent labels in developing social impact and capital, and how to better define the role that independents play in 2025.
The session will be moderated by Shain Shapiro, PhD, who has served as the secretariat of ORCA since 2023, alongside Patrick Clifton and members from City Slang, Partisan and !K7.
