The music industry has many voices – but does it also have a common one?

Between professional associations, collecting societies, initiatives and political stakeholders, one fundamental question arises: How can we build effective representation that actually makes a difference? Do we need new structures, stronger alliances or even a trade union for music professionals?

Over the past few years, numerous organisations have emerged or grown that advocate for fair remuneration, social security and better working conditions. At the same time, as Johann Scheerer recently raised in his article “How to do Gewerkschaft”, the question remains whether this growing number of organisations and initiatives strengthens the music sector’s collective political power – or makes it more difficult to speak with one voice.

At PRO MUSIK, we want to open up this debate and ask you: What do you expect from strong representation of your interests? Bring your experiences, criticism and ideas. This panel is about getting involved and having your say.
