DISARSTAR
Following sold-out tours and performances at major festivals, DISARSTAR took a break. No one could have guessed when or how the Hamburg rapper would return. Not even himself. Following the worrying socio-political developments of the past two years, it is clear that culture, and German-language rap in particular, has a debt to repay. Many are rightly asking, ‘Where is art's response to all the crap we've been served here for years?’
So it is perhaps only logical that DISARSTAR provides the brutal response we need with his new album Hamburger Aufstand, released on 29 August 2025. Who else? 'You can count on me, I feel at home in the alleys' (Monumente). But DISARSTAR isn't just making a comeback in any old way; he has withdrawn to draw new strength and inspiration from a fresh clarity: 'Back from the dead like Jesus. In top shape, my head's clear again, like the Blue Lake' (- Weisse Mit Dreads).
The Hamburg rapper makes it unmistakably clear that he is far from finished. However, he knows that he needs a clear head and a sharp eye for detail for his work, because 'Hamburger Aufstand' is both a declaration of war and an indictment. It is a declaration of war against poisoned discourse on talk shows, complacency, and a broken system that destroys people and makes broken people even more broken.
DISARSTAR addresses the obvious issues that no one else dares to talk about, such as: 'How much hatred can you swallow before you burst?' Young people spread hatred — what did you expect? Where the future doesn't smile, anger is ignited” (- Wie viel). The Hamburg rapper only succeeds in this because he sees himself not as an activist, but as someone acting within a system. He is someone who still carries his city, its people and their stories in his heart. This comeback is the logical continuation of 'Deutscher Oktober' and 'Rolex für Alle', aiming to tear down the status quo. 'Hamburger Aufstand' analyses the social and political climate more pointedly than experts ever could.
DISARSTAR has grown in confidence, striding forward to call for rebellion with the woodcutter-like assurance that resignation would be irresponsible. 'Hamburger Aufstand' meets the demands of true rap fans in all kinds of ways because it comes from the bottom up. Just like rap. Just like DISARSTAR. Just like everything good.
