Gerhard Maier

After more than ten years in the film and TV industry, Gerhard Maier was editor-in-chief at two of Germany’s largest print publications in the entertainment sector. His work involved covering films and series throughout their entire runs, scouting suitable markets and creating print media ranging from press releases to reviews.
Since 2014, Maier has been putting his obsession with series to use in other ways: he was one of the founding trio of Seriencamp, Germany’s first festival and conference dedicated exclusively to serialised storytelling. As artistic director, he curates formats, hires speakers while also heading the festival’s programme team. When he’s not working at Seriencamp or curating for conferences such as the Reeperbahn Festival or the Input>Output Symposium, he is a guest lecturer at film schools and training programmes such as Midpoint.
