Kübra Gümüşay
Kübra Gümüşay is the author of the bestseller ‘Sprache & Sein’ (‘Language & Being’), is host of the ‘Utopia Talks’ discussion series at the Thalia Theatre in Hamburg, and is the initiator of numerous campaigns and associations. These include the feminist co-creation space eeden in Hamburg – which was honoured by the German government in 2019 as one of ‘Germany's Cultural and Creative Pilot Programmes’ – as well as the feminist research and advocacy organisation future_s and the feminist alliance #ausnahmslos (meaning: ‘unexceptional’), which was awarded the Clara Zetkin Women's Prize in 2016. Her blog ein-fremdwoerterbuch.com was nominated for the Grimme Online Award in 2011.
In 2018, Forbes named her one of Europe’s Top 30 Under 30. In 2021, she was a fellow of the German Cultural Foundation’s Tarabya program, and in 2022/23, she served as a Senior Fellow of the Mercator Foundation at CRASSH and Jesus College, University of Cambridge.
She is currently researching alternative futures, real utopias, and the politics of imagination.
