Pamela Schobess

Pamela has been a club owner in Berlin for over 25 years. Together with her partner Lars, she ran the club Icon in Prenzlauer Berg for 15 years. Displaced from that location by gentrification, the pair have been running the Kreuzberg-based (live)music club Gretchen—located on the Dragonerareal site—since 2011. She also serves as the spokesperson for the local business community there.
Pamela acts as a political spokesperson on the executive board of LiveKomm (the federal association for music venues), sits on the supervisory board of Initiative Musik, and is a member of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) plenary assembly. From 2019 to 2022, she served as chairwoman of the Clubcommission Berlin.
She is a trained banker, holds a degree in Communication, Political, and Film Studies, and—alongside her work in the club scene—spent many years working as a project manager in media development cooperation, primarily in Africa.
