Richy Muirhead is the founder and director of SAMA Events Ltd, a Glasgow-based events and cultural organisation behind the Scottish Alternative Music Awards (SAMA) and PITCH Scotland. The organisation delivers a year-round programme of awards, conferences, festivals, showcases, networking events and international export initiatives. In 2026, SAMA Events was selected as a curator for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games cultural programme.

Richy is also the co founder and festival director of PITCH Scotland, an annual international conference and showcase dedicated to hip hop and underground culture. Produced by SAMA Events Ltd, the festival is entering its fifth year and brings together artists, delegates, and music professionals from around the world for three days of live showcases, conferences, speed meetings, songwriting camps, A&R listening sessions, open mics, and mixers across multiple venues in Glasgow.

Richy is the founder of the Scottish Alternative Music Awards (SAMA), one of Scotland's longest running platforms celebrating emerging music. Since launching in 2009, SAMA has championed artists including Alice Faye, Brògeal, Hannah Laing, Lewis Capaldi, Mercy Girl, Proc Fiskal, TAAHLIAH, and VLURE, recognising the artists and scenes shaping the future of Scotland's music landscape.

Alongside its flagship events, SAMA Events Ltd delivers an extensive programme of international export activity through SAMA and PITCH, curating Scottish showcases at FOCUS Wales, Liverpool Sound City, Nürnberg Pop Festival, Pro Weekend Fest, SHIP, and SXSW London, strengthening Scotland's presence on the international stage.
