Alina Orlova
At the heart of Alina Orlova’s music lies an appreciation of silence, as well as a passion for sound in all its forms. The Lithuanian singer-songwriter has now spent two decades delighting her country’s indie underground with her impeccable timing – striking the right notes at the perfect moment – and her bittersweet poetry. From the lively, experimental folk gem “Laukinis šuo dingo” (2008), since given cult status throughout the Baltic states, to a warm, melancholic autumn album such as “Laumžirgiai” (2022), Orlova has shone in different facets over the years – alongside indie-folk and slowcore, she also lets her creativity run wild in genres stretching from art pop to psychedelic chansons. Despite this, she always remains unmistakably herself, incorporating new references to a wide variety of musical traditions without ever copying, and ignoring any influence from the so-called mainstream. It is precisely these auditory adventures that make last year’s “Nakties atvirukai” (2025) a uniquely independent statement in Lithuanian pop music.
