The Bankes Brothers

With the release of their debut EP, ‘In Waves’ (2024), Morgan and Nelson Bankes made a big splash on the Canadian music scene. The brothers celebrate a highly melodic genre mix of indie and alternative rock that often displays certain Americana qualities and combines catchy hooks with dopamine-soaked vocals. Together with Carson Cleaver on lead guitar and drummer Gray Oxley, the band got together in a pool hall on a Friday night. It’s hard to imagine a more fitting setting since the band’s traditional yet dynamic style is the perfect soundtrack for lively parties with friends. Influences ranging from Elvis Presley to Paul Simon, from The Strokes to the Pixies are also reflected in their latest EP, ‘Get To Know’ (2025), which marks the culmination of an almost completely sold-out European tour and showcases the remarkable evolution of The Bankes Brothers. Lucky for us, they are making the long journey from Victoria, British Columbia, to Hamburg, Germany, in September to celebrate their Reeperbahn premiere.
