Born and raised in rural Wales, Catrin Hopkins was confronted with the realities of a conservative society at an early age. Boomer mentality, intrusive narrow-mindedness, the howling of those stuck in the past – she had had enough of it all as a teenager. The only way out was – and still is – artistic expression. Perhaps that’s why her catchy power pop tracks are bursting with honesty and energy, which she showcased on her debut single, ‘I Dated A Monster’, last year with the confidence of an established singer–songwriter. 

As Catty, she counters the stuffiness of the status quo with a queer-feminist perspective and translates this into women-loving-women anthems with bite and beats.
