Named after a lipstick that they celebrated together at the age of 16, CYBER have never missed an opportunity to use their teens as creative fuel. The Icelandic duo have been creating audiovisual trips into the mind of a generation without prospects since 2017: first as part of the non-binary rap collective Daughters Of Reykjavík, and now, as a power couple who let off steam between experimental hip-hop, avant-pop, and extravagant electronica to their heart’s content. Albums such as ‘Horror’ (2018) and ‘VACATION’ (2020) have become ground-breaking neo-classics without the need for a bloated PR machine – and not just on the volcanic island. Through word of mouth, CYBER have become a cult project whose live concerts flood the senses like a tsunami of unorthodox ideas – whether it’s sound design, top-notch performance style, or visuals. They were just as convincing at Iceland Airwaves as they were at this year’s The Great Escape – and they left fans screaming time and time again. For their first gig with us in Hamburg, the two will also be bringing their homage to the fears and worries of Gen Z, which they congenially transcribe into futuristic alt-pop on album number five, ‘Sad :'(’ (2024).
