Finding the extraordinary in the ordinary isn’t always easy. But remaining modest and unpretentious isn’t either. Westside Cowboy have not only internalised this attitude, but also translated it into a hugely rousing blend of Americana, indie rock, punk and slacker charm - in short: Britainicana. With songs such as ‘I've Never Met Anyone I Thought I Could Really Love (Until I Met You)’ (2024) and ‘Alright Alright Alright’ (2025), the Manchester quartet has quickly become a cult act among devotees of well-crafted guitar music. So how have they done it? Hard to say. Perhaps thanks to a nuanced understanding of the emotional impact of indie and pop when it’s created authentically and free from any business plan. Perhaps through the pure joy of playing, something that saw the four deadly serious musicians meet up every day in a poorly lit Manchester student flat. Or maybe because none of them was looking to make history. Westside Cowboy are revitalising the once-vibrant indie drive, the understatement of this subculture and might well reignite the genre with meaning in the coming years. Just the right time for a gig with us, where they’ll also be presenting their new EP ‘This Better Be Something Great’. The name speaks for itself.
