“Zmagria” is a commonly used term in North Africa for people from the diaspora – those who have left their homeland and live in other countries. The term often describes being uprooted and making new connections at the same time. The exhibition takes Zmagria as a departure point to explore questions of identity, migration and belonging. Works by Addardae Abdul Hassan and Soukaina El Adak are on display, revealing different perspectives on the North African diaspora. Addardae’s work operates along the faultline where design, society and politics meet. Her decolonial approach questions existing norms and invites us to develop new narratives. Soukaina combines performance, sound and visual art to reflect on experiences of migration, intercultural identity and self-representation.

“Zmagria” includes mixed media, calligraphy, digital art and expansive installations. The works invite people to engage in dialogue and discover new perspectives on North Africa and its diaspora.
