Spacestation
Ready for liftoff? Spacestation still has a few tickets left for a flight into the unknown. Operating in the frequency spectrum between good old ’60s psychedelia, the forefathers of experimental Krautrock, and the walls of sound from early shoegaze icons, the four guys from Reykjavík have catapulted themselves into an orbit with a panoramic view. Delays and distortions, lucid brilliance, and nostalgic grain lend even their first singles, such as “Hver í fokkanum?” (2023) or “Fokking lagið” (2024), a paradoxical charm that redefines the intensity of noisy effects in a pop context. In doing so, they naturally follow in the footsteps of bands like Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine, or even the Velvet Underground – but the shoe size actually fits to the centimeter. Thus, while the debut album “Reykjavík Syndrome” (2025) pays homage to these inspirations, it still goes a step further and has nothing more than a weary smile for the increasingly commercialized music scene of the Icelandic capital. Spacestation reveal a different, raw reality of their hometown, far removed from the Instagram hype. The sound design complements this approach, turning the band’s concerts into rare spectacles brimming with authenticity and genuine passion.
