Wie Deep Dive ist deine (Music) Love?
Lange und kurze Formate im Musikjournalismus
Attention Stan - Too Long, Don't Need: Who needs in-depth music journalism? About old and new topics, readers, followers, ways of communicating music journalism.
What is the best way to communicate music journalism content today, what still works and what no longer does?
What still fits into traditional structures, where and how can new formats replace what for example used to work as an introduction to lesser-known acts and scenes in print as long reads or on the radio as longer reports, formats which are receiving less and less funding?
And does anyone even still want long, in-depth formats today, apart from staged fan fodder about current stars in vanity/documentary format or pop history homework podcasts and documentaries about the same old hits, heroes and highly regarded albums from the past?
How can social media-based formats manage to spark and cater to interest in musical phenomena, in addition to the necessary personality/brand/identity messages about themselves and their own channels?
Do bite-sized formats such as reviews, short news articles, etc. in print formats, where they naturally appear weeks after the actual news cycle, still reach anyone other than hardcore offline ultras?
Is it all very simple, with ‘classic’ formats being for long-established fans of ‘heritage acts’, while all the superfan participatory hoopla and cosy community/bubble feel-good reels or provocative baiting with pseudo-beefs are more suited to kids and their new heroes?
