Boyish

Indie
US

With no concept outside of what was happening in their lives, India Shore and Claire Altendahl launched their project, Boyish, in 2016 – back then, under the name The Blue. It was about their experiences as a queer duo, which they processed and creatively realised page by page, song by song, like in a diary. Without any PR, the two managed to be nominated for an Independent Music Award and were celebrated by the prestigious New Yorker magazine with their 2018 debut, ‘Carnation’. Dream pop with angelic polyphonic vocals nestles against echoing shoegaze guitars, the stylistic impartiality of an indie rock band meets the songwriting of established musicians who know exactly what they want. So, it’s no wonder that their second album, ‘Garden Spider’ (2020), also received rave reviews in US feature pages and that singles such as ‘Smithereens’ (2021) are also making an impact on relevant streaming platforms. Most recently, ‘Kill Your Pain’ (2023) – a collaboration with King Princess – was released. The project – which has since grown into a band – will also be bringing new material to their gig with us.
