Amidst structured chaos, Hetta find moments of catharsis that they immediately convey to their audience. The Portuguese quartet play relentlessly dissonant mathcore that stylistically poaches from the realms of thrash, screamo, and noise rock to make a bloody kill. The band sound extremely tight and demonstrate enormous skill on their debut EP, “Headlights” (2022), relying on energy, intensity, and powerful dynamics. With this overwhelming sound, they’re not only making waves in Portugal, but also leaving fans of Fugazi, The Blood Brothers, and Orchid worldwide with their jaws on the floor. At the end of last year, their long-awaited debut album, “Acetate” (2025), was finally released – a thunderous manifesto for passionate music created not by aloof stars, but by hard-working people with a job and a life, with fears and hopes. It’s not merely a middle finger to platform capitalism, with all its bloodless hype and crass commercial imperatives. Rather, Hetta craft the ultimate human performance of a controlled loss of control in which anger is understood as a driving force and resistance as vitality.
