At a previously unknown intersection of precise breakbeats, 1993-style shoegaze and coolly glazed autotune vocals, Frederik Bruun and Liza Dries have honed, refined and established their unmistakable cross-pop sound. And they’ve been doing so for just over two years. Shaped by the digital sound of today and the spirit of their generation, the Danish-Dutch duo miaw use unorthodox sampling techniques, synth arpeggios and a dreamy production style to create club music reminiscent of Sega Bodega or Pink Pantheress. Tracks such as “ATT” or “hello hello” (2024) unfold like an intoxicating dream before your third eye, compelling you to dance until you drop. Physicality and post-digital spirituality merge in miaw’s sound. The debut EP “My Petswan” (2024) received rave reviews in the music press, from GAFFA to Soundvenue and BPM Magazine, as well as various airplays on 1Live and BBC6. A sound that arises in a loop somewhere between a peak-time banger, a sedated remix and an instantly catchy pop song. Perfect for their first gig with us here in Hamburg.
