Every so often, extraordinary talents emerge who not only instantly captivate large audiences, but also enthral music world legends with their message. I Am Roze managed precisely that several times in 2021 when they gained exposure to a wider public under the wing of Fred Again, impressing Timbaland and Ghostface Killah as well as the former producers of Dua Lipa and Amy Winehouse. With an apparently limitless vocal range, powerful delivery and lyrics drawn from their own life, the singer has gone from homelessness in Louisiana to the limelight of the British soul scene via several stops along the way. A rags-to-riches story? Well, it's definitely no fairy tale: I Am Roze are living it right now and still staying true to themselves with incredibly moving songs like ‘Someone Who Cares’ (2023) and ‘Think For Yourself’ (2025). When it comes to musical brilliance and expressiveness, there’s nothing more to say about this year’s EP ‘Social Commentary’ – not even the title. What we have here is a voice that we’ll be hearing more of in the future.
