Matilda Mann
When her father played records by David Bowie and Joni Mitchell, he probably didn’t expect what a huge influence this music would have on his daughter. But Matilda Mann didn’t just absorb the sound of the 70s and 80s; she also took it as early inspiration to write her own songs. Even during her school days, she spent every free minute with her guitar: writing lyrics, composing poetry, and singing. Step by step, she translated her sources of inspiration into her own version of contemporary indie folk, which brought her phenomenal success from her very first EP. ‘October 16th’ (2018) was a self-released EP, followed by two more in 2020 on the London label sevenfoursevensix. Shortly afterwards, the singer–songwriter racked up millions of streams on the relevant platforms and achieved international success with the singles ‘Doomsday’ (2021) and ‘Four Leaf Dream’ (2022). A velvety intonation and an outstanding ear for melodies make her songs intimate and touching diary entries in sound form. With her debut album, ‘Roxwell’ (2025), she now delivers an unconventional coming-of-age soundtrack that lies somewhere between alt-pop, songwriter folk, and bedroom charm, which she will also present live on stage with us.
