For years, it was unimaginable to Jamila that her songs could exist outside the small safe space of her bedroom. But that changed abruptly in the spring of 2022 when the Swiss-Palestinian musician recorded her first single, ‘Indifferent’, with a producer friend and realised that the deeply personal songs she had written in the intimacy of her flat were resonating with others. The EP ‘Fadeout’ was released a year later and triggered strong emotions at a release party in Jamila’s flat share. Reflective lyrics, a contemporary pop design, a multi-faceted vocal presence – as an artist, the newcomer has everything it takes. But she also reaches her fans as a person and will soon be heard and loved beyond Switzerland. No wonder she was named Spotify’s ‘Equal Ambassador’ and ‘Artist To Watch 2025’ in April this year and drew standing ovations at the Montreux Jazz Festival. And she will be coming to Hamburg for the first time in September with her new EP, ‘Boyfriend Of The Year’.
