MØ
Although it’s been over ten years since Karen Marie Ørsted climbed the Danish charts with her debut album, ‘No Mythologies To Follow’ (2014), the impact of her success still reverberates today. Year after year, the young singer–songwriter continues to make a name for herself with her extraordinary material ranging from electropop and alternative R&B to electronic experiments and futuristic arrangements. She has become an integral part of the Danish music scene and is now celebrated throughout Europe for her completely unique style. Subsequent works – such as the summery fame diary ‘Forever Neverland’ (2018) and the anthemic dark disco declaration of love ‘Motordrome’ (2022) – were in their own ways both daring and successful experiments with crazy production values, arrangements, and stylistic breaks. However, MØ has never betrayed her original, creative impetus; on the contrary, she has always used it as a vehicle for explorations into fresh worlds of ideas. So, it’s no wonder that her new album, ‘Plæygirl’ (2025), presents another facet of the seemingly inexhaustible MØ sound, which can be taken as an unconditional enrichment of modern pop.
